Longest Day of Play (LDOP) is an event that encourages physical activity in an effort to decrease rates of diabetes, obesity, cancer and cardiovascular disease. (CVD)  Many States feel the pinch from having the highest Rankings in number of diabetes, obesity, cancer and CVD.   Kentucky has some of the highest rates of these diseases.  Research shows that losing as little as 10% of one’s body weight can lead to huge health benefits and becoming more physically active is a wonderful place to start!

It’s all about fun…it’s all about fitness.  Longest Day of Play is a physical activity initiative has the following goals: to inform citizens of local physical activity opportunities, to involve people of ALL ages and fitness levels in physical activity and get County residents up, moving and active!

The event is committed to fulfilling the Essential Public Health Service 4: Mobilize Community Partnerships to identify and solve health problems.

LDOP Steering Committee is comprised of local businesses, civic organizations, community volunteers and local health department.  They will come together to promote active lifestyles which prevent many chronic diseases.
