Day 1 Overview

  • Today, students will:
    • 1-1 Introduction
      • Understand how decisions affect the Whole Person (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual) and how choices made today can either help or hinder their lives in the future
    • 1-2 Icebreaker
      • Be challenged to make different decisions through the opening activity
    • 1-3 Five Parts of the Whole Person
      • Identify the Five Parts of the Whole Person (physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual)
      • Recognize how day-to-day decisions can affect each area of the Whole Person
      • Discuss how choices made today will help or hinder their lives now and possibly in the future
    • 1-4 Building Self-Confidence 
      • Identify strategies for increasing one’s self-confidence
    • 1-5 Now or Later (Part 1)
      • Consider options and make a choice based on instant/delayed gratification
    • 1-6 Cyberbullying
      • Identify common examples of cyberbullying and the negative effects bullying can have on an individual
      • Identify the various tips/steps to deal with a bullying incident
    • 1-7 The Whole Truth
      • Identify types of media and recognize negative messages communicated by the media
    • 1-8 Transition and Charge
      • Recall what they’ve learned as well as identify their personal strengths and weaknesses
      • Encouraged to discuss their responses with a trusted adult.
    • ***Suicide is mentioned in today’s lesson.  This could be a trigger of a past or current trauma for some youth ***

Day 2 Overview

  • Today, students will:
    • 2-1 P2 Review
      • Recall what they learned in the previous session by sharing their responses from the assigned charge
    • 2-2 Jammal’s Story
      • Identify the possible effects of viewing sexually explicit media (pornography)
    • 2-3 Entrapment
      • Define pornography
      • Recognize the effects pornography can have on the Five Parts of the Whole Person as well as their personal futures
      • Develop skills on avoiding the traps of sexually explicit media
    • 2-4 Sexting
      • Identify the risks involved in sexting
    • 2-5 Transition and Charge
      • Recall what they’ve learned as well as create a list of five major life goals and five obstacles that could hold them back from achieving them
      • Encouraged to discuss their responses with a trusted adult.
    • ***Suicide is mentioned in today’s lesson.  This could be a trigger of a past or current trauma for some youth ***

Day 3 Overview

  • Today, students will:
    • 3-1 P2 Review
      • Recall what they learned in the previous session by sharing their responses from the assigned charge
    • 3-2 Split Decisions
      • Recognize how the choices they make today can and will affect their lives now and, in the future
    • 3-3 Enlightenment
      • Understand how sexual activity puts them at risk for an unplanned pregnancy
      • Understand how STDs/STIs are spread, they symptoms they cause, and how to best prevent STDs/STIs and unplanned pregnancy
    • 3-4 Transition and Charge
      • Recall what they’ve learned as well as identify three resources they can access in order to achieve their goals
      • Encouraged to discuss their responses with a trusted adult.

Day 4 Overview

  • Today, students will:
    • 4-1 P2 Review
      • Recall what they learned in the previous session by sharing their responses from the assigned charge
    • 4-2 Journey
      • Identify several careers related to their own interests and skill sets
  • 4-3 Stages/Timeline
    • Compare and contrast the benefits of waiting (delayed) or instant gratification
  • 4-4 Transition and Charge
    • Recall what they’ve learned as well as create a timeline with a minimum of ten action steps for the next stage of their lives.
    • Encouraged to discuss their responses with a trusted adult.

Day 5 Overview

  • Today, students will:
    • 5-1 P2 Review
      • Recall what they learned in the previous session by sharing their responses from the assigned charge
    • 5-2 Jammal’s Story
      • Identify with other youth and peers who have overcome obstacles
    • 5-3 Building My Legacy
      • Identify the obstacles they have overcome as well as obstacles overcome by others (family, peers, community)
    • 5-4 Q & A
      • Solidify their understanding of the curriculum by answering questions they have submitted during the course of instruction
    • 5-5 Now or Later (Part 2)
      • Compare and contrast the benefits of waiting (delayed) or instant gratification and the benefits of making healthy choices
    • 5-6 Final Transition and Charge
      • Make aa personal commitment to make healthy choices that will enable them to reach their goals as well as leave an amazing legacy
